In early February, I was in Zbarazh and the village of Klimkowce (20km SE of Zbarazh) . My Pikholz family lived in those two places.  I was also in nearby Podwoloczysk , and in Lviv , the main city of East Galicia .

O this site are photographs from the visit . In Zbarazh a have photos of the city, and of 14 identifiable graves in the Jewish cemetery of the following people:

INDIVUAL PHOTOS PHOTOS IN GROUPS
Samuel Schaffel , son of Zvi Joel Wartenberg , son of Jeshaja
Chaim Kiwitz , son of Jeshaja (9 years old) Israel Zeev Frishparg , son of Chaim
Klara (Bassia) Katz , daughter of Jeshaja Eliezer Sosie Kromisz
Chaje (Ressia) Peicoher , daughter of Joel Dov . Wife of Jehuda Anna Rapaport
Abraham Segall (1855-1917) , son of Israel Aron Blaustein (1864-1931)
Benjamin Segal , son of Abraham Bracha Lea Zinger , daughter of Aharon Dawid (14 years old)
Finkel Kiwitz , daughter of Meir . Wife of Zeev Arieh (88 years old)
Reizia Kaul , daughter of Jacob Mantel . From Nowegosic

Most of the gravestones have Hebrew dates. Only a minority of the graves remaind in the cemetery (I estimate ~ 30%). The
others were destroyed during and after the Second World War.

The Mayor of Zbarazh told me that they are interested in cleaning the cemetery and building a fence . They need contributions from Jewish people that have family roots in Zbarazh .

Some of the Jews from the small villages in the area (such as Klimkowce) were buried in Podwoloczysk, in addition to those in Zbarazh.

There are no synagogues or Jews in Zbarazh . There were some even after the war, but they have emigrated to Israel .

The vital records from Zbarazh are in the Archives of Lviv and Warsaw. When we conclude the search in Warsaw , we can start a new search of records in the Lviv Archive . They have the following vital records : (B) 1816-1876; (D) 1805-1858 , 1894-1907, 1912-1942. They have no marriage records.  The Jews from the small villages in the area were registered in Zbarazh and their vital records are included in the Zbarazh records in the archives in Warsaw and Lviv.
