Date: Sun, 3 Jan 1999 07:36:32 +0200 I have a story that is looking for a family. If you have ever heard anything like it, let's hear. Two years ago, I was looking for some Gordon cousins of my mother's father - cousins who lived in eastern Missi- ssippi. In the course of things, I heard from a Leon Gordon of Columbus Mississippi, who knew one of them in the 1940's or early 50's, although they were not related. Leon, who seemed to be writing from a retirement home, said that his grandfather was Carl Gordon of Brooklyn, who came to the US in 1902. He wrote further: ...at my grandfather's funeral some of his relatives from Connecticut mentioned that his real name was Pickholtz. They said the name Gordon came from a passport of a deceased Englishman he used to get to this country. I wrote back to him inquiring basic info such as when and where was the funeral, who were the Connecticut cousins, what was his Hebrew name (I'd assume he kept his own) - but never received a response. I just wrote again a few days ago. But perhaps someone else recognizes some part of this story? I'm assuming that "Carl" was born around 1875-1880, but I may be way off. Israel P. -- End --
